Services Offered

Salem Home offers several different avenues of inpatient therapy to meet your needs. Our staff provides outstanding care and makes a sincere commitment to help each individual enjoy a life rich with dignity and satisfaction.

We are dedicated to providing “person centered” care. What this means is that we individualize the care and how it is provided, for each person, and this care is in keeping with their personal preferences and lifestyle choices. We strongly believe and adhere to the philosophy that the person should not need to change their lifestyle, simply because they have had a change in address. Beginning with the admission process, and continuing on as they are admitted, we work hard at gathering as much information as possible, so resident’s lives can continue on with as little interruption as possible. This includes bathing preferences, food preferences and meal times, waking time in the morning or staying awake through the night. Our desire is to accommodate their preferences, and any changes that need to be made to accommodate those preferences and schedules, are made by our staff. The resident is not expected to change their desires to accommodate us.

Skilled Care

Salem Home provides skilled care for those in need of short-term rehabilitation, as well as those whose needs require long-term skilled nursing care. Our skilled care provides a wide range of rehabilitative services to you, with the goal of empowering you to achieve the highest possible level of functioning.

Salem Home has specially trained individuals to help you meet your needs. Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapists will evaluate and design therapy programs to address limitations that you may have, which will help you to reach your goals and get you will on your way to being back at your own home.

Regain movement with Physical Therapy

Physical therapists use a number of advanced techniques to help you or a family member regain muscle strength and improve coordination following an injury or illness.

 

They teach safe ways to climb stairs, negotiate curbs and ramps, and move from a bed to a chair. Our residents can learn to walk again with appropriate support equipment, to properly maneuver a wheelchair, or to use an artificial limb. Physical therapy can also help control or alleviate both acute and chronic pain.

Therapies Offered:

Long Term Care

Salem Home is committed to providing our residents with quality care, in a warm, loving environment. Our caring staff offers the assistance you will need while respecting your independence. Our Long-Term Care Department provides care for those in need who require 24-hour nursing care.

We provide personalized care to meet your particular needs. We understand that having a comfortable and homelike environment is what you need, and we have created that very setting. Our Nursing Facility is warm and inviting with spacious rooms, offering both private and semi-private rooms, available in various sizes.

Our restaurant-style dining will help you to continue to have relations with those around you. We have made our dining room into one large room, so you can visit with all your friends during your meal. We offer a restaurant-style dining experience, with home-style meals.

We have a beautiful courtyard that is specious and has a walking trail for those who enjoy being outside. The walking trail is also good for those who use a wheelchair for mobility. We have a variety of flowers and special plants (during the appropriate seasons) for you to enjoy or even to observe from your room that overlooks the courtyard.

Short Stay / Respite Care

Salem Home provides care for those of you who are in need of a short stay or for those of you who care for a loved one and are in need of some help. We provide the care you need for as little as one day or up to thirty days. You are entitled to all the amenities as if you were a long term resident at Salem Home

Adult Day Care

Salem Home provides Adult Day Care for those of you who may need our services for a few hours a day. We will provide meals, activities, restorative/exercises, bathing, and other services that may be needed by you.

Independent Living Apartments

Salem Home independent living apartments are located on the lower level of the nursing home. The apartments provide the freedom to come and go as you please while still providing a secure setting. Salem Home provides one studio apartment and nine two-bedroom apartments. For a tour of our apartments, call 620-947-1450

 

You can contract with outside services to assist you while living in your apartment independently. This means you are still eligible for home health services, meals-on-wheels, etc. Apartment residents receive priority on our nursing home waiting list, if the need should arise.

Each apartment includes:

  • Fully equipped kitchen and bath

  • Central heat and air conditioning

  • Utilities are included in the monthly rent

  • Cable hook-up at no extra charge

Conveniences & Amenities:

  • Meals may be ordered from Salem Home kitchen, at an extra cost of $5.00 each meal. Your meals may be delivered to your apartment, or you may join us in the main dining room of the nursing home.

  • Mailboxes are indoors.

  • Beauty Shop – located on main floor and open once each week.

  • Laundry room.

  • Courtyard access from your apartment.

  • Building locked at night to ensure security.

  • Apartment residents are welcome to join in the activities of the nursing home.
